BackgroundI’m a clinical psychologist with over 10 years of experience in private practice and over 20 years of experience in the mental health field more broadly. I work with individuals and couples in my offices in San Francisco (near Union Square) and Oakland (near Rockridge BART). I received my Ph.D. in clinical psychology at UC Berkeley and did my pre-doctoral training at UCSF/SF General Hospital. I currently also work as a professor at San Francisco State University, where I teach, conduct research, and train psychotherapists. I am licensed as a psychologist in the State of California (Psy# 21034).

My Approach |
I see my role as a psychotherapist as someone who adapts to each individual that comes to work with me. Although I have been trained in both psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral theoretical traditions, I work to meet people where they are when they come to therapy. For example, I work with individuals with a variety of serious problems including depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, and I also work with people who are dealing with broader life transitions, or working on developing a meaningful life. People work with me in either a short-term capacity to relieve symptoms, or on a longer-term basis in order to increase self-understanding and self-reflection.
